It is well known fact that Reiki Therapy gives wonderful result in all health diseases/ or disorders regardless of it being on a mental, physical or emotional level.

Everyone knows that it is a drugless therapy and it does no harm, but my intention is to draw reader’s attention towards most unnoticed, ignored benefits of this wonderful therapy.

  • No.1: Individualization of treatment. Which means to treat a person and not a disease/ or disorder.
  • No.2: A Reiki Therapist will treat the patient on all 3 levels (i.e. mental / physical / emotional) at some time by treating his/her Chakras.
  • No.3: Reiki Therapy has no contradictions to any other treatments, but at the same time it is complementary with Alternative and Conventional medicines.
  • No.4: There are no restrictions on food intake.
  • No.5: Reiki Therapist also provides stress counseling/coherence therapy.
  • No.6: There is no social stigma attached to getting treated by a Reiki Therapist like with some other alternative therapies / psychiatrists, as A Reiki Therapist can conduct a routine session with Arthritis patient and next with a Depression patient.
  • No.7: You yourself can go for Reiki attunement, and can start your own treatment.
  • No.8: Last but not the least, now Reiki is gaining its place in colleges of alternative medicine in and out of India also.

Since thousands of years, Reiki is part of Indian tradition, and in many places this healing technique has achieved considerable
popularity , but still even today there are areas where it will take more time and efforts for people to comprehend it. For ex : For some people Reiki is only spiritual, only some accept Science behind it.

A spiritual leg of Reiki cannot be ignored. It is true that God has created this Universe and Universal energy flows through it. But we creature’s are also God’s creation , but we all have bodies/form which functions scientifically. Now the time has come when Reiki is gaining its room in alternative as well as Mainstream medicine.

Now-a-days, Reiki therapists are invited in reputed hospitals; doctors of conventional medicine are using Reiki in their regular practice and according to below report, Reiki is now also included in Universities of Alternative Medicine. Going forward, it is also possible, that Reiki can become part of mainstream medical education.

Acupressure and Reiki

As a Reiki therapist many times I have been asked this question: “Madam can I continue my current medication ? Will it affect the result of Reiki?

My one and only answer to this question is:  “No need to restrict any treatment while undergoing Reiki Treatment. If any, Reiki will only have complimentary effects if taken along with other Treatments and improvement can be beyond expectation. But no side affects at all”.

Another Complimentary Treatment working in unison with Reiki is Acupressure. Some of the similarities in Reiki and Acupressure are as follows : 1) To Treat the Person and not only Disease/Disorder. 2) Body and Mind are inseparable 3) Energy of 5 Elements/ Chi . 4) To help body regain its natural healing power 5) Release of Toxic matters from the body.

A notable difference is that acupressure has to apply some pressure on body for the treatment, whereas Reiki does not need to apply any pressure. Also Acupressure needs to be applied at specific points only whereas Reiki does not have that limitation. Following article provides good amount of information on Acupressure.

In my experience as a Reiki Therapist, I found it surprising for many people, when i was able to detect the hidden causes of their troubles/suffering, whether realized/unrealized by them.

For ex : When a patient was being treated for Intense Headache, during physical examination, disturbances were found in Solar Plexus. She was suffering constipation and that was the reason for headache.

Apart from these, during other treatments, many such other feelings of anxiety/fear/mood disturbances/emotional upsets/willingness or unwillingness for the session/ etc… were noticed.

The reason being,  in Reiki Therapy, it is the Recipient’s body itself, which draws the energy and the Reiki healer , hence , becomes eventual to the actual disturbances. Moreover, if the Recipient is unwilling for the treatment, Reiki itself stops flowing, hence reciprocating the feeling.

Pasted below , is one another important link for Clear understanding of Reiki :

In my experience as a Reiki Therapist, many people ask me, why do i need to have a Case-Taking Session and why do i need to examine their mental state along with their physical conditions ?

Also Many people are hesitant to go for Alternative Medicine, only for the reason that they do not want to discuss their “Emotions” with their Therapist.

Following article is a detailed explanation of all their queries about emotions and a detailed description of Organ and Disease relationship.

However, there are some differentiation’s with Chinese Medicine and the Authors Opinion.

But the theory of Organ and Emotions is beautifully linked.

If we read this article thoroughly, the concept of Psychosomatic Medicine and Body-Mind Theory will be easy to correlate and comprehend.

An abstract of the article is followed by Link to the Article.

THE ORGAN-EMOTION LINK
Element Metal Water Wood Fire Earth
Organ Lungs Kidney Liver Heart  Spleen
Harmful Anxiety, Fear Anger Joy, Shock Pensiveness,
Emotions Sorrow     Empathy
Qi Effect Constrict Drop Rise Scatter Knot

  • Reiki masters and healers are always trying to explain , scientific bases of reiki, it‘s heightened effectiveness on physical, psychological and emotional level.
  • Also, at the same time, there are increasing number of studies being conducted by scientists and researchers, and their research has proved time and again, that reiki does work at all levels.
  • Following article is “The Ultimate” answer to all questions raised on reiki and it‘s concept.
  • Another important thing about Reiki is that, It has place in alternative medicine from the time it is introduced. And now this therapy is gaining exponential momentum in mainstream medicine also, at all level, namely Physical, Mental, and Emotional.

Abstract of the article.

“In the early 1980’s, Dr. John Zimmerman began a series of important studies on therapeutic touch, using a SQUID magnetometer at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. Zimmerman discovered that a huge pulsating biomagnetic field emanated from the hands of a TT( Therapeutic Touch) practitioner.

Confirmation of Zimmerman’s findings came in 1992, when Seto and colleagues, in Japan, studied practitioners of various martial arts and other healing methods. The “Qi emission” from the hands is so strong that they can be detected with a simple magnetometer consisting of two coils, of 80,000 turns of wire. Since then, a number of studies of QiGong practitioners have extended these investigations to the sound, light, and thermal fields emitted by healers.

It is not widely understood that “brain waves” are not confined to the brain, but actually spread throughout the body via the perineural system, the connective tissue sheathes surrounding all of the nerves. Dr. Robert O. Becker has described how this system, more than any other, regulates injury repair processes throughout the body. Hence the entire nervous system acts as an “antenna” for projecting the bio-magnetic pulsations that begin in the brain, specifically in the thalamus.”

Karuna Reiki

Just Like Medicine, in general, has its Types and Sub-types, “Reiki” too, has its various streams with the basic building block established by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui.

Karuna Reiki is developed by William Rand and is very popular today. It was introduced in 1995 but is used by many now-a-days. Karuna Reiki, itself, has many levels/sub levels, but for that, too, you should be Master in “Reiki” before you go for any other Avataar of Reiki.

Karuna is a Sanskrit Word and it means Compassion/Love.

  • A person can live without food and water for some days but can’t live without air for few seconds.
  • The lungs are the purifiers of our system. They pump in the oxygen and pump out toxic carbon dioxide.
  • In diseases like Asthma and bronchitis the normal pattern of breathing changes, it also changes after great physical activity when it becomes rapid and deep.
  • There are several breathing exercises which help to ventilate our lungs for maintenance of good health.
  • Different emotions have different impact on breathing pattern.

E.g. when angry, excited, fearful, depress breathing takes a different pattern.

It also changes during and after the sexual act.

  • Proper breathing is greatly important for toning up physical and mental health.
  • In yoga and all kind of meditation different breathing patterns are used.
  • Importance of breathing is greatly described in Dr Joseph Pilets’ therapy.
  • Breath is the bridge between the body, the senses and the mind and our aim must be to strengthen this bridge for healthy living.
  • Due to our modern busy life schedule we breathe only 1/10th of our oxygen requirement and use approximately 1/3rd of our lung capacity.
  • There are 3 distinct types of breathing

(1)   Clavicular or upper breathing

(2)   Thoracic or middle breathing

(3)   Abdominal or deep or diaphragmatic breathing.
